Beacon Legal has partnered with a leading energy and utilities business on the recruitment of a Legal Counsel for the Melbourne office.

As a Legal Counsel, your role will be to provide accurate, timely and reliable legal advice to the business in respect of its operations within the ANZ market. This is a fast paced environment and you'll have a wide range of exposure to different matters which will allow you to learn quickly on the job. You will solve key opportunities in the energy transition and develop commercial solutions.
The company's legal team is excellent and made up of well-trained lawyers, and engaging people. You'll be walking in to a supportive, inclusive and friendly team, in which all lawyers are valued. This team is headed up by an excellent General Counsel that will be supportive and willing to assist with any failures and challenges.
You will have the chance to work collaboratively with the executive leadership team and senior management. It would be an excellent first move in-house for a private practice lawyer.
About You
The role would suit a commercial lawyer looking to further their career in a leading business. The successful candidate will have the following key attributes:
Admission as a lawyer in Australia;
Between 4-5 years' PQE gained from a reputable law firm, or similar in-house role;
You will have experience in one or more of the following areas: Infrastructure, Energy, Technology, Privacy, Consumer, Finance
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise important tasks;
Willingness to work as part of a team but also autonomously as required;
Excellent drafting and contract interpretation skills.
